10 hours days / Mandatory Saturdays = OT

Job Description

The Shipping Clerk accurately pulls and prepares orders, operates material handling equipment, and loads and unloads trucks to ensure timely and efficient shipment of products. This role supports daily warehouse operations and contributes to a safe, organized, and high-performing distribution environment.

Responsibilities

• Pull and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently according to shipping documents.
• Operate a reach truck safely to move, stack, and retrieve materials as required.
• Load and unload trucks while ensuring products are handled carefully to prevent damage.
• Verify shipment contents against shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
• Stage, label, and organize outgoing shipments in designated areas.
• Follow all safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines in the warehouse.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in shipping and receiving zones.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors about order status, issues, or discrepancies.
• Assist with general warehouse tasks as needed to support overall operations.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience working as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar warehouse shipping role.
• Ability to operate a reach truck safely and efficiently.
• Experience using forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order pulling and shipment verification.
• Ability to safely load and unload trucks using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Capability to work in a physically demanding role, including standing, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime, including up to 60 hours per week when required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in shipping and receiving operations.
• Familiarity with basic warehouse documentation such as packing lists and shipping labels.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting schedule and productivity expectations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cold warehouse environment where you will need to wear full winter gear, such as a winter suit, throughout your shift. The position involves regular use of reach trucks and forklifts, as well as frequent loading and unloading of trucks and handling of materials. Work hours can include substantial overtime, with weeks of up to 60 hours when business needs require it. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and centered on efficient shipping and receiving operations.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
