Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and energetic Direct Support Provider (DSP) to join our Day Program team. Under the guidance of the Department Manager, you will be responsible for delivering community-based day services that support individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals as outlined in their Individual Service Support Plans (ISSPs).

As a DSP, your primary focus will be on providing meaningful engagement opportunities that promote skill-building, independence, health, and social connection. You'll have the chance to work in groups with program participants in a variety of settings throughout the community.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals (Program Recipients/PRS) in achieving ISSP goals through engaging and inclusive community-based activities.
  • Plan and facilitate habilitative activities including:
    • Volunteering
    • Physical fitness and wellness activities
    • Recreational outings and interest-based events
  • Promote and ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of each PRS at all times.
  • Foster relationships and create inclusive opportunities with local community members and organizations.
  • Encourage independence and self-advocacy among individuals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timely reporting of participant progress and incidents.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and other care team members to ensure quality service delivery.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in human services or related fields are a plus.
  • Be at least 18 years of age with at least one years driving experience.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Provide Valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

· Proof of auto insurance including an insurance declaration page stating current coverage.

  • Ability to pass background checks and required clearances.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively, adapt to challenges, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Have a current CPR & First Aid certification.
  • Have a current Crisis Prevention Training certification (i.e., Safety Cares, Mandt, CPI).
  • Comfortable leading group activities and engaging with the public.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Able to stand for extended periods.

· Ability to walk long distances and hike over varied terrain.

· Driving for sustained durations and distances.

· Crouching or kneeling, particularly for tasks requiring close attention or detailed work.

· Reaching, bending, and twisting as needed for various tasks.

· Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. or more as required.
