EU Customs Tariff Management: Daily monitoring, research, and interpretation of EU customs tariffs, duty rates, controls, and tariff measures from official sources (EUR-Lex, EU TARIC database, Official Journal). Expert knowledge of EU Combined Nomenclature (CN) classification and alignment with World Customs Organization Harmonized System (HS) codes. Maintain and validate an up-to-date, compliant database of EU tariffs and tariff measures (TME). Responsibilities Monitor and interpret EU tariffs, duty rates, controls, and tariff measures from official sources (EUR-Lex, EU TARIC, Official Journal). Apply CN classification and align with HS codes as defined by the World Customs Organization. Maintain and validate an up-to-date, compliant database of EU tariffs and tariff measures (TME). Design, manage, and optimize technical workflows for tariff data processing. Understand precise data formats (XML/EDI standards for customs data, JSON for API delivery). Implement data validation procedures and quality assurance protocols. Write clear documentation of tariff processes, data transformations, and regulatory changes. Create process manuals and SOPs for tariff management. Draft technical specifications and requirements for developers. Regulatory and Data Standards Deep understanding of EU Customs Code (UCC) and delegated/implementing acts; knowledge of duty suspension and exemption regimes; interpretation of tariff measures. Expert knowledge of EU TARIC system architecture and data elements; understanding of tariff nomenclature hierarchies (HS → CN → national tariff lines). Proficiency with tariff measure codes, duty rates, quota management, and validity periods. Understanding data formats for customs data (XML/EDI) and API-delivered JSON. Compliance and Documentation Stay current with EU and international customs regulations and tariff policy changes; update internal procedures and compliance checklists. Ensure data accuracy meets regulatory standards for customs compliance. Qualifications And Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, International Relations, or a related field. Proven experience in EU customs tariffs, Combined Nomenclature, or tariff classification (minimum 3 years). In-depth knowledge of EU customs regulations and tariff structures. Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting legal regulatory documents. Expertise in translating legal and technical concepts across business and IT audiences. Knowledge of SAP schemas used in Global Trade data. Hands-on experience with EU TARIC database and tariff research tools preferred. Skills And Mindset Strong analytical and project management skills; clear communicator with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical procedures. Clear written and verbal communication skills; experience working with multiple stakeholders. Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve processes. Familiarity with XML structures.
