Office Services Specialist

Full-time position available with responsibility for providing clerical support to the Habitat Management Division. The Division processes joint permit applications for work involving state-owned submerged lands, tidal wetlands, beaches and dunes. Duties and responsibilities include strict adherence to the agency's array of time sensitive policies and procedures and legal accuracy requirements. Additional duties include maintaining working files on all applications under review, as well as continuous reference to completed files in response to public inquiries. Daily data entry and scanning into the Division permit tracking system, preparation of all official agency correspondence and responding to telephone inquiries from applicants, governmental agencies and the public at large.

Excellent clerical skills, competency in Microsoft Office products, and database entry. Good analytical, writing and speaking abilities, aptitude and understanding of computers is needed. Candidates must have a high school education or the equivalent. Successful candidate must be eligible for a valid Virginia driver's license. Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the standard 12-month probationary period.

Position is based out of the agency's main office in Hampton on Fort Monroe, VA. Physical requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, minimal lifting.
