Curriculum Area Leader (Humanities)

Leicestershire Part-time – 3 days per week Competitive salary (pro rata)

Start date August 2026 - End date: TBC

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Curriculum Area Leader to join a dynamic Further Education environment in Leicestershire on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious leader to take ownership of a Humanities curriculum area, driving quality, performance, and an outstanding student experience.

The Role

As Curriculum Area Leader, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and outcomes for learners within Humanities provision.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing a high-performing Humanities curriculum team, including line management and staff development 
  • Driving high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Leading on curriculum planning, development, and innovation to meet learner needs 
  • Monitoring attendance, retention, achievement, and progress data to inform improvement strategies 
  • Overseeing quality assurance processes, including self-assessment and quality improvement planning 
  • Managing staffing, timetabling, and resources effectively within the curriculum area
  • Supporting learner progression and embedding employability and student development within programmes 

About You

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Holds a degree (or equivalent) and a teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) 
  • Has essential experience leading a Humanities curriculum area within a post-16 / Further Education setting
  • Demonstrates strong experience in curriculum leadership, quality improvement, and team management 
  • Has a proven track record of improving student outcomes and driving high standards
  • Is confident using data to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement 
  • Possesses excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
