Reports To: Paving Foreman or Superintendent

Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Asphalt Distributor Truck Operator with a valid CDL to join our

heavy highway civil construction team in the Houston, Texas area. The operator is

responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an asphalt distributor truck used to apply

liquid asphalt to road surfaces in preparation for paving. Candidates must be skilled in

operating and maintaining distributor trucks and ensuring accurate application.

Key Responsibilities:

● Safely operate an asphalt distributor truck to apply asphalt oil to road surfaces.

● Adjust and control spray bar width, pump pressure, and flow rate for even distribution.

● Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections and perform basic maintenance on the

truck.

● Work closely with the paving crew to coordinate timing and coverage of application.

● Ensure the safety of self and crew by following traffic control procedures and safety

protocols.

● Maintain accurate records of materials used and truck operations.

● Immediately report any incidents or moving violations.

● Comply with all DOT and company regulations regarding vehicle operation and safety.

● Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

● Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.

● HAZMAT endorsement

● Minimum 2 years of experience operating asphalt distributor trucks.

● Knowledge of liquid asphalt materials and distributor truck operations.

● Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

● Familiarity with DOT regulations, safety procedures, and construction zone driving.

● Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

● This position is physically demanding and performed primarily in the field at active

construction sites. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping,

squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift. They must have the

physical strength and stamina to perform repetitive manual labor and operate heavy

machinery in variable site conditions.

● They may be required to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and tools weighing up to 100

pounds, often without mechanical assistance. Operators may engage in activities when

entering, exiting, or servicing equipment, and must also demonstrate manual dexterity

and hand-eye coordination to control levers, pedals, and instruments inside the

equipment cab. Good visual acuity, hearing, and spatial awareness are essential for

safety and effective task execution in busy job sites.

● Work involves prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold,

humidity, wind, rain, and direct sunlight. The environment may include loud noise,

vibrations, moving vehicles, airborne dust, and hazardous materials. The role may also

involve work at heights, confined spaces, and uneven or unstable terrain. Personal

protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves,

high-visibility vests, and safety-toed boots must be worn at all times on job sites.

● Due to the nature of the work, employees must be capable of maintaining physical and

mental focus throughout long shifts and reacting quickly to dynamic, potentially

hazardous conditions. Reliable attendance, situational awareness, and strict adherence

to safety protocols are essential requirements of the role.

Preferred Skills:

● Experience on TXDOT or municipal roadway projects.

● Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.

● OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

● Ability to operate additional paving-related equipment is a plus.
