Job Summary As a member of the Information Resources (IR) team, the Senior Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in catering to the Basic science research community as well as serving as back up for the Clinical Research community at UT Southwestern. In this role you will provide high-quality service to researchers, staff, and students and for the day-to-day operations, support, and management of the following research applications critical to research administration operations: Basic Science Animal Research Management System (Topaz Elements), Clinical Trials Management System (Velos), and Florence eBinder System. You will collaborate with department leaders, business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand specific needs and initiatives and manage the design and development of solutions to ensure alignment with organizational goals and needs. This role requires you to stay informed of advancements in research technologies and tools that enhance the experience and optimize operations for the research community. This position requires someone who is structured and organized in their approach, possesses a forward-thinking/continuous process improvement mindset. Experience and Education Required Education – Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related fields Experience – 5 years business systems and/or project experience with exposure to systems or project development and testing, installation, and training. May consider additional years of related experience in lieu of degree. Primary Job Duties Serve as the Business Stakeholder liaison to facilitate application requests, manage issues and problem resolution for the institutional Basic Science Research Protocol and Animal Management System (Topaz Elements), the Clinical Trials Management System (Velos), and Florence eBinder. Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders, and develop best practices and tools for project execution and management. Manage projects and serve as primary customer contact. Define and maintain project plan and schedules. Monitor compliance with definitions of project scope, timelines, and deliverables. Provide regular project status reports to customer and internal management. Assist business analysts of lower grade to coordinate projects. Collect, interpret, and document specifications required to develop new and revise existing software applications. Develop and implement operational plans for new and existing business computer applications. Participate in development of project proposals for customers. Coordinate testing of new applications and changes to existing applications to ensure integrity and quality of data while providing and/or assisting in training of system users. Define and develop test scenarios. Document and track status of application errors and related issues in problem log. Assist programmers and business analysts of lower grade in analyzing and resolving problems. Compile complete, concise, and comprehensive policies and operational procedures to assist in communicating issues to applicable management staff. Develop new system administrative procedures required, utilizing new functionality resulting from system changes. Assist in developing and implementing business strategies in departments to improve operational processing and productivity. Monitor development of specifications and establish priorities for accomplishing design and testing of various projects. Review, develop, recommend, and implement activities, programs, or functions as assigned. Maintain and track accounts assigned to projects or programs. Record time spent on projects to meet cost-recovery requirements. May supervise lower level analysts. Perform other duties as assigned.
